Post-retirement benefit increases
Each January, eligible MSRS benefit recipients receive an increase in their monthly payment amount. This benefit increase amount is established by Minnesota state law. MSRS will send you notification in December of the post-retirement benefit increase that will occur in January.
The increase is prorated the first year after retirement and is based on the number of full months you were retired during the previous fiscal year, which ends June 30. After the initial prorated increase, you will receive the full benefit increase in subsequent years.
