MSRS will conduct an election to fill openings on the Board of Directors. The deadline to vote is Friday, March 1. If voting by mail, the ballot must be postmarked by that date. If voting online, the ballot must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. that date.
IMPORTANT: The ballot that was mailed to you includes the election website URL and your login credentials. Voting does not take place on the MSRS website, nor is there a link from our site to the election website. You must enter the URL provided on the ballot to visit the election vendor's website.
Four positions are up for election this year. Select the links below to learn about the candidates.
- General Retirement Plan and Unclassified Retirement Plan - 2 positions
- Correctional Retirement Plan - 1 position
- Retired Member - 1 position
Note: State Patrol Retirement Plan members will not vote in this year's election. The election for that position will be held in 2026.

- Mon, Feb 5, 2024: Ballots mailed to eligible voters. Voting begins (either online or by paper ballot).
- Fri, March 1, 2024: Deadline to vote.
If voting by mail, the ballot must be postmarked by that date. If voting online, the ballot must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. that date.
- Thu, March 21, 2024: Votes counted. New Board members announced on this website after that date.
- Mon, May 6, 2024: New Board member 4-year term begins.
- Board members are responsible for the overall governance of MSRS. Members do not select investments or determine plan asset allocation. These duties are the responsibility of the Minnesota State Board of Investment.
- Board meetings are generally scheduled the third Thursday of odd-numbered months. Meetings are usually three to four hours long, but may be extended a few times each year to provide training and education to board members.
- Members do not receive compensation for their service, but may be eligible for reimbursement of expenses incurred while serving on the board for MSRS related business.
